Board President
Principal at Marina High School
Born and raised in Mexico, I immigrated to the US when I was 16 years old as an undocumented immigrant. With the support of caring teachers who encouraged me to pursue my education after high school, I started community college in 1989, eventually transferring to San Diego State University. I graduated from SDSU with a BA in Liberal Arts and received my teaching credential in 1997, the year I started my career as a classroom teacher. My wife and three children relocated to Santa Cruz County in 2010 as I began to work as an Assistant Principal for Santa Cruz City Schools and the year I began to get involved with Senderos.
Senderos’ vision to keep alive our native cultures and languages, represent our countries of origin with pride, share our culture and contribute to the larger community, promote harmony, and break stereotypes is what invited me to support this organization in different capacities.
I currently serve as the Principal at Marina High School with the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District and proudly serve as Board President.
